Pacific Sound Chorus Directors
We are fortunate to have a great Mother/Daughter team of Directors: Julie Hagstrom and Megan Hofkamp
Julie Hagstrom has been a member of PSC, Region 13 and Sweet Adeline’s since July, 1976 when she joined at the ripe old age of 14. She is the Lead in Sparkle, the current 12th place International Quartet, based out of Region 6 in Minnesota. She has spent the last 20+ years representing Region 13 at International Competitions with 7 quartets and placed in the top 11th twelve times. Her top 10 Quartets are: Unplugged, Mojo, Yahtzee (singing with her daughter), and Sparkle.
Her chorus achievements are: Assistant Director, Front line Direct (at age 28), Lead Section Leader, Music team member, co-Director and is fortunate enough with her range to be able to sing all four parts.
She has always been active in chorus and quartet life. Her emotional attachment to music and the verbalization of it makes her strong in the Expression category. Her constant learning and growing of her own voice allows her to hear sound and teach other singers to produce a more free, lifted expressive sound.
Julie loves Barbershop music and loves to teach others. She loves it when they are able to bring music to life. Having been coached at a high level for such a long period of time, she is able to help with the techniques of teaching others, how to sing together and become a stronger unified unit. As a skilled performer she knows how to connect with an audience to share her talents.
Julie has a large life outside of our organization. She has been married for 30+ years. She is a Mom of four adult kids, a grandmother of two granddaughters with #3 on the way.
She has a successful full time career as a Senior Loan officer for Team Hagstrom at Guild Mortgage Company located in Federal Way, WA. She helps low to mid income borrowers to pursue the dream of home ownership. She has helped 1300 families in the last 14 years. She is active in her community and is the President of Kiwanis of Covington, an organization that helps children in the community. Last but not least she is a woman of faith.
In addition, Julie’s love of barbershop music, Pacific Sound Chorus and Sweet Adelines has guided her to becoming the co-Director of PSC. She and her daughter are a great team. They have a multitude of experience and knowledge and together they will lead the chorus to greater expectations. Sweet Adeline’s has given her the happiness of music and joy of life long friendships.
Megan Hofkamp has been a member of PSC, Region 13 and Sweet Adeline’s for 18 years. She started “officially” singing barbershop at an early age of 12. Her musical experiences include: choir throughout her schooling, musical theater, and multiple honor choirs.
Megan is the baritone in WINK, 1st Place Championship Quartet, 2019 Region 13. She was also the baritone of Yahtzee, 1st Place Championship Quartet, 2013 Region 13, and 11th place quartet, Yahtzee, 2013 International Quartet.
Megan has a tremendous enthusiasm for barbershop and directing. She works to improve our spirits, keep our voices unified and our expressions engaged.
She is a wife, a mother of a two year old daughter and expecting her second child. Megan’s love of barbershop music, Pacific Sound Chorus and Sweet Adelines has guided her to becoming the co-Director of PSC. She and her mother are a great team. They have a multitude of experience and knowledge and together they will lead the chorus to greater expectations.
